MADRID - Spanish officials say two firefighters have died in a forest fire in the northwest of the country.
The regional government of Galicia says the blaze broke out Thursday night near Fornelos de Montes in Pontevedra province.
The government's rural affairs department says in a Friday statement that the circumstances of the two men's death and the cause of the fire are not yet known.
News reports said the fire continued to burn Friday and the regional president has canceled all his appointments in order to focus on the blaze.
