SConFire is reporting that a Murrell's Inlet-Garden City firefighter was transported to a local hospital in cardiac arrest from an apartment fire this afternoon.

The Sun-News reported that the firefighter originally had heat exhaustion.

Both sources report that the ambulance transporting the firefighter had a police escort.

No other information has been made available at this time.

I hope that this firefighter recovers.  My thoughts and prayers are with Chief Knight and his firefighters at this difficult time.

Good news! As updated yesterday, the firefighter in question is now in stable condition at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

For a firefighter with post-cardiac arrest secondary to extreme heat stress and dehydration, this is good to hear.
