PEARISBURG, Va. (AP) -- Virginia State Police say six Pearisburg volunteer firefighters have been injured in a truck accident during training.

Sgt. Michael Conroy says the truck went off the road in Pearisburg, struck a tree and rolled over an embankment about 8 a.m. Sunday. Conroy says the driver was cited for not wearing a seatbelt and failing to maintain a vehicle.

Conroy says the driver and five passengers were taken to hospitals for treatment. He declined to comment on their injuries.

The Roanoke Times reported four of the firefighters were treated and released. The condition of the other two was not available.
