Who would of thought that this simple aid call could have turned into a major event. Toned out as chemical burn to face and eyes at a water treatment building. The building was a 12' X 16' well house wood structure next to it a 10'x12' chemical storage building wood structure both with heat and un maned. With 3 types of clorinite and 2 types acid pwder and liquid clorine, belive it or not a drum af sanatizing bleach. Total evacuation distance 3 miles with any mixture. Warning do not add water. It brought a qeustion to mind what else is in our district that we should be aware of. Wow should not have asked that qeustion.

Places to find unsuspecting chemicals. Chicken farms, Daires, Air ports commercial and private, Propane storage facilaties, Water treatment plants and well houses. Fish hatcherys state and private owned, Grocery and convinent stores dont over look gas pumps, and above ground storage at said pumps. County maintanance shops, ect ect ect.

As the training officer I took it upon my self to find these areas and came up with a good solution to keep my F/F, EMT's safe. I have started an awearness training so that any one of us can realize a potentual danger erea when we see it. once a week I take 5 minutes to give a senereo and take about 5 minutes of coments

Has any one else came across the same problem and if so let me know how you deal with it.
