Unfortunely politics will always play a part in the fire service whether it is career or volunteer. The persons who are really hurt by the feud are those who live in the town. A mayor who thinks he is a king, knows nothing of the fire service yet removes probably the only real person who knows what to do. Then there is a fire chief who must have the utmost respect of his members that the majority resign in protest.

Not sure if faced with the same situation, as to what I would do, because I believe in the saying "You never know what you will do in a certain situation until you are truely faced with it."
