Severe Weather Collapses Structure, Injuring Many at Florida Air Show

LAKELAND, Fla. - High winds flipped planes and caused major property damage at the Lakeland Sun 'n Fun Fly-in around noon on Thursday.

Earlier reports that a hangar had collapsed on a group of people turned out to be incorrect, although there were some minor injuries, according to the Lakeland Police Department. Everyone there at the time has been accounted for.

Photos from the scene show planes strewn around after being swept up in the high winds. It has not been confirmed if it was a tornado or straight-line winds that caused the damage.

The Fly-in is one of the largest air shows in the country, attracting thousands of visitors annually.
