Today the City of Atlanta GA is having the biggest “brown out” of fire services in its history. The city has closed fire stations and companies for the day, or longer, because they had to send firefighters home due to lack of funds to pay them.
How is your department surviving in today economy? What are you doing to adjust the way you operate under the new operating conditions brought on by loss of funding?
The current financial crisis is affecting all levels of government service delivery. The impact of the current severe economic downturn is likely to continue to negatively affect all local government services around the country. There may have never been a more important time than now for all of the stakeholders in government; Elected Officials, Managers, Leaders of Labor, & Concerned Citizens to work together to assure that the needs of all members of the community are addressed in the development of local public policy and service delivery.
As part of that effort, I have developed an online forum for all stakeholders to share what they have each done to improve: Service Delivery, Operational Efficiency, Cost Effectiveness & Safety for their communities and personnel. The web address is:
http://www.survivetaxcuts.com
I invite each of you to join the survivetaxcuts forum and to share your experiences, success stories and ideas to help others in government deal with current fiscal impacts on their ability to deliver service to the public. I also invite you to let others who are in local government service at any level and to those private citizens and taxpayers who are the real owners of government about this website.
Everyone needs to work together to solve todays problems. Please forward this to your friends and local government leaders.
Thank you
