Well my time is up with the air force as a DOD firefighter time to move on and look else where for employment. I am pretty much open to any where at this point, if your department is hiring or might know of some where worth applying drop me a line!

The question thus becomes how far and wide are you willing to look? Have you ever applied for a career FF job? If not, the process can be quite long and consists of several trips during a process for written, physical agility, interviews, etc.

As a vet, you should qualify for vet points which will help your chances of getting a job. Also, be sure to check out if your certs will be accepted as well, just because they are AF, not every dept will accept them. I would suggest looking at getting you paramedic (you can use GI Bill), medic will help you stand out even more and it is possible to test for depts while in school.

I would also suggest looking into a site like www.firerecruit.com this is a pay site, but you get lists of depts all over the country that are hiring and what they require to apply. This will help narrow down a search for you as well and limit you travel costs while awaiting a job.

If you had paramedic, you could apply in Green Bay, there will be several retirements coming up soon.
Are the Air Force/DOD Certs still IFSAC accredited? If they are, you can get resprocity with NFPA certificates in some states. I don't know the website but there is one for Federal Firefighter and DOD openings around the world. I haven't looked at it in years though. Oregon ANG base, which has State Employees for their fire department just hired last month.
I kinda miss some of the Air Force benefits...
