SEATTLE (AP) -- After 50 years with the Seattle Fire Department, Kenny Hoefner will call it a career on Monday at the age of 72.
He started with the department in 1959 and hasn't had a sick day since 1966 when he had the mumps.
Since 1981 he's been a fire truck driver for Station 33 in south Seattle.
The Seattle Times reports that Hoefner created a scholarship fund for the sons and daughters of firefighters and contributed more than $500,000 to the fund.
Wow, that's very impresive to be able to be on the job that long; what a wealth of knowledge. Congratulations and good luck in your well deserved retirement
