During training yesterday was the first time I have ever worn an SCBA. I openly admit that I completely freaked out and yanked the mask off (yes, I know this could kill me in a real situation). My question is, does anyone have any tips, hints, or tricks that will help me become more comfortable and not freak out?

proper spelling please.
Is it the mask itself or the whole pack that bothered you? Try just wearing the mask without the pack until you get comfortable with the mask, then put the pack on without going on air for a while, then move up to on air when you think your ready. Set your own pace with each step, not moving on until you are ready. Take your time and good luck.
