Scanners With Fire Tone Out?
Recently reading, Unidens new scanners have a fire tone out feature (FTO). I was wondering if any of you have these. Do they really alert when my department gets a call? If they actually alert im considering getting one. It sounds useful but I want professional opinions from firefighters first.

i have a smaller one than the one that you have your eyes on...all the fire stations i have programed in mine give the tones with each respectful station they are indeed useful but at the same time a royal pain in the a$$ when it comes to the public showing up when you are on scene trying to do your job...

Yea i just love when rubberneckers come. Our county has dispatch on 1 channel and cant here anything else so i need a scanner.

What you need is a portable or mobile, I am pro communications! Another option would be 2 channel pager.

Wayne, i'd like to have a portable but the only people allowed to have radios are officers, and duty portables. Since we are dispatched on a different band as ops. I'd like to hear whats goin on.
