So Im a "rover" (extra guy that fills in for a set amount of shifts) so I need to carry around my gear, was wondering what you all carry your stuff in, I would like to find some type of trunk, that I can put in and out of my car, I have a GMC Yukon, any Ideas out there, Im not a big fan of that big red bag. let me know....
really?? we had trouble fitting more than a couple onto the trucks without them being in the way or out in the open. Im happy with the old black bags they gave us could squash them down a bit to keep them out of the way. The new wildfire bags are alot like the structure ones minus the wheels and base and a bit smaller and have firefighter written down the sides. They make things look a bit more professional.
When I say "great for wildfire", I mean in the bus on changover crew. I hate the idea of carrying a bag on a Tanker OR a Pumper!
The "old black bags" and the "new wildfire"? Never had the old and don't have the new! Just used a personal bag or a military issue bag (Army and Navy are the ones I've used). The trouble with having space in a bag is that we always tend to use it all - that can be an issue in itself.
'Firefighter' written down the sides? I'm told that the 'Croation Football Association' design that we use is supposedly known "by everyone". I don't like it. Did you know that the MFB have a logo now as well? Fancy wanting to stop the use of their terrific old badge...
Since I rarely work at the station that I'm assigned to "on paper", I keep my gear in a big red bag ("tenacious gear" or something like that). I keep my bedding, (pillow, blanket and sheet & toiletries bag), in a mesh laundry bag. Works for me!
Oh ok maby it was a country or district thing. When you got issued with your first set of wildfire PPE you got a plain black sports bag to carry it in and use on striketeams. Which you could fit atleast 2 full sets of wildfire PPE in if you wanted to, they are a bit big.
The new ones dont have CFA on them anywhere just FIREFIGHTER.
We only got issued with the ones with wheels when we got the new structure PPE
