RN to Medic?
I have heard that if you get your RN certification you can challenge the Paramedic test for offical medic certification. You need to hold your EMT certification(or EMT-I, depending on what levels your state has) and RN before you can challenge the test. Is this true?
The medic that told me did not mention if this was nationally accepted or specific to the State of Florida.

Kind of an open ended question that is area specific. In Los Angeles, there used to be such a thing as a MICU RN. If you are a RN, and you are ACLS and PALS certified, you pretty much trump a paramedic certification.

Check with the National Registry, they are the certifying entity for most parts of the country. There are some places that do their own testing, but they are spread out too.

A physician, physician assistant, dentist, or registered nurse may be certified as a paramedic if the physician, physician assistant, dentist, or registered nurse is certified in this state as an emergency medical technician, has passed the required emergency medical technician curriculum, has successfully completed an advanced cardiac life support course, has passed the examination for certification as a paramedic, and has met other certification requirements specified by rule of the department. A physician, physician assistant, dentist, or registered nurse so certified must be recertified under this section.
