SINGER, La. (AP) -- The Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Office is requesting information in connection with a burglary and theft at the Singer Volunteer Fire Department.

On Jan. 29, authorities say someone entered the fire station and two sets of firefighter gear valued at $4,840 and a medical equipment bag valued at $270 were taken.

A set of firefighter gear consists of coat, pants, boots, helmet, hood, gloves and gear bag

Deputies say the theft of the equipment not only costs the department money but also impacts on the department's readiness.

Anyone with information about the crime is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-273-1374. Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward in connection with this burglary.
