A couple hundred firefighters, friends and family gathered yesterday afternoon to celebrate the retirement of Deputy Chief Bill Rickman of the Ridge Road Fire District at the Hilton Exempts Club. Proclamations were presented from the NYS Senate by Senator Joe Robach and from the NYS Assembly by Assemblyman Bill Reilich honoring Chief Rickman’s service to the community. A proclamation by the Town of Greece declared July 18, 2010 as Bill Rickman Day in the Town of Greece. Ridge Road Fire Chief Bud Phillips spoke of the many contributions made by Chief Rickman during his 35 years of service including refurbishing of the Stone Ridge Fire Station, design and construction of the Ridgeway Avenue Fire Station, Fire District national accreditation and much more. Perhaps the greatest honor came from the Ridge Road Firefighters
themselves who presented Chief Rickman a plaque and spoke of their appreciation for the Chief’s leadership in the day to day operations of the District.
