Rescue Designs

We are just about due to spec out a new heavy rescue and will be starting a discussion shortly. Does anybody have any individual design ideas that you have incorporated that worked well for you or any problems you have sucessfully adressed. Even pit falls anyone may have encountered would be welcome.

Five of us ,myself included are licenced mechanics, so we have a good grip on the basics. We are fortunate that a former regional chief owns a fire vehicle manufacturing facility and have access to his material. Thanks to ideas on here we now have some excellent ideas for some non conventional applications. The more ideas we see the better our decision process will be ,such as the hopper idea. Thanks to all for your participation.

Good points Ben. Our truck committee weighed and measured everything before the bid spec was even made. To include spec'ing what each tray and tool compartment had to hold for weight. All manufacturers had the chance to place a bid on what exactly the truck was going to carry. Our rescue above carries 31,000 lbs of equipment and as big as it is, is the lightest apparatus in our fleet.
