Im am assisting with a Fire Explorer program that my younger brother is part of. Im kinda the volunteer advisor for the program, the program is sponsored by the paid guys but most of the kids will join a volunteer station in the county. My question is how do they go about getting more kids involved? They have been running for almost a year now & only have 6 kids in the program. Id like for the program to continue in the future after these kids join our stations so we can keep them running in the future. So what do yall think we can do to get more involved? Thanks for the help.
i was a member of an explower program for almost a year and we asked kids that we knew if they wanted to join. we basicly advertetesed it and did fundraisers where we were the main sponser thats how we got the work out
If you want more kids to join, got to the schools in the county and give them a presentation on the the Fire Explorers are about. I'm the 2nd lieutenant in my group of cadets. We go to the schools and target kids in the age range of 13-18, So we go to middle schools and high schools and put on a slide show of trainings and drills. Also what we do is we put an add in the local and county papers about an open house. We set up tables with just the basic tools and equipment off of our engine and truck companies. We also get a car from a junk yard donated and have our jr's use the jaws. We also let the kids that come to the open house try on the turnout gear so they get the feeling and have a table with applications at the bay doors for any people interested. I hope I was of some help. If you have any questions, just drop me a message.
