Plain and simple, the answer is easy. Firehouses are public buildings. Being they are public buildings (and not "frat houses nor adult novelty stores) the utmost care should be taken to NOT have ANY lude photographs, video's nor magazines on site. If you would have concern of a citizen seeing it, it shouldn't be there.
There is no room for the porn at any fire department and/or ems facility. It is totally unacceptable and should not be tolerated.
caught the bad spelling for me in time to change it, thanks. Lude and Lewd are 2 totally different things. :)
Philly,

Wasn't the definative non-answer to your question given by Justice Potter Stewart in the 1964
Jacobellis v.Ohio case when he said, "I can't define pornography, but I know it when I see
it."?

Essentially, the swimsuit edition of SI wouldn't not qualify as this.
No, but it probably qualifies as "inappropriate" to many people. Many years ago, when I worked at a small electronics company, the new head of HR made the VP of Marketing take down his SI swimsuit calendar. It was taped to the inside of his door so it had to be closed in order to see it.

I know, I know; I'm just saying...
There is none at ours, We are not even allowed to bring in laptops just because of the wyfi and the chances of it happening.
We do not have any porn at our station.

We did have a poster of a women standing next to a tanker on the office wall but the chiefs girlfriend rip it down and ripped it up. The only reason we kept the poster in the first place was it survived a fire we had at our station. The fire came up threw a vent right below the poster but it did not burn.

But when she threw the poster away that was the last provocative poster or picture we had.

Now that you brought up porn what about inappropriate clothing or lack of?

Such as men going shirtless or women wearing tank tops or really low cut shirts are these things that need changed also?

I have asked my female fire fighters to keep a shirt with their gear so if we have a call they can put it on and ask the guy's to do they same so they are not running around shirtless on calls.
I agree we are adults Scott, but you don't see that crap in a hospital posted on the wall somewhere or you don't see a SI calander behind a judge now do you, be an adult and know were to draw the line, it should not be in any public place and a FD is a public place.
That was not the question Tommy, plus those are wrapped up in the store, I've never seen a naked calander displayed at a grocery store, wonder where it is that you shop at................. ?
Right on Turk, we don't need the distraction of members wearing no shirts or bikini tops to fire calls.
You can make that choice at your home, would your Chief allow you to read a porn mag. in the middle of your meeting? I guessing not.
