I am currently conducting a needs analysis for a local fire protection district near the Denver Metro area. I am wondering if anyone has any SOP's or policies regarding the proper way of performing high angle tower rescues such as microwave or radio towers.
All help would be appreciated, I am however especially interested in learning specifics regarding the special hazards presented by the electronics and radio equipment. The department in question will not be able to handle an operation of this complexity for many years to come, but my concern is that perhaps no agency within a reasonable distance could perform this type of operation. There are a number of properly trained high angle rescue teams in the area, however I know of none that have specific training on radio towers.
It is my hope that perhaps I can develop a responsible contingency plan should such a need arise.
