G'day guys,

Not sure how many of you will be from Australia, but its worth a shot.

I'll start off by saying that I am not a firefighter, but I am in the process of becoming one. Basically I would just like to find out what further qualifcations and/or experience would help me out the most in attaining my goal of being a career firefighter. I am a member of the State Emergency Service, which is a volunteer rescue organization (mostly concerning floods) and am about to join the Country Fire Authority, which is a rural volunteer firefighting organization. I am also enrolled in a university course which will give me Certificate II in Public Safety (Firefighting Operations). Really, I'm just after tips and tricks that would boost my standing and CV in the eyes of the career firefighting agencies. Any help would be much appreciated.
