PROVIDENCE, R.I. - A fire official says two people have died in a "suspicious" two-alarm house fire in Providence.
Deputy Assistant Chief Paul Thomas says the 2 1/2 story home on Camden Avenue was fully involved when crews arrived at the scene just before 3 a.m. on Monday.
Neighbors had called after spotting smoke.
Officials think the fire started on the third floor, where both victims were found. Thomas says they were women in their 40s, but their names were not immediately released. The cause of death remains under investigation.
He says the other two floors were unoccupied.
Two firefighters received medical attention for minor injuries, one for an ankle injury, one for a back injury.
The cause remains under investigation, but Thomas says the severity of the blaze makes it suspicious.
