While I have only responded to single airplane occupant crashes, all being fatal, I know of two incidents, one in the ocean and the other inland where a commercial airliner had crashed, resulting in a very complicated process involving working with the NTSB as they investigate the cause of the crash and the recovery of bodies and wreckage.

Our hearts go out to those affected by this tragedy and hopefully things will be learned from this to prevent it from happening again.

Should this occur in your first in, are you prepared with your MCI pre-planning and EMS delivery to deal with this kind of situation? Can you put together a solution to house many bodies, using refrigerator trucks or other resources?

i dont think we prepare for these kind of incidents enough...about two years ago i ran a mutual aid call with a neighboring dept in the middle of nowhere and they had a plane crash.most depts feel that it wont happen to their dept but god what a wake up call this is.i am glad you posted this on here because even though i have ran one of these calls even i have over looked the importance of training for this.i am going to talk to the training officer about this tom. thanks for the post!
Last month there was a post on the FFN that questioned expenses for a department in New York. Next thing you know a commuter plane crashes not too far from the station. Scary...
