I edited out some of the names. This went to a 2nd with the majority of the 2nd alarm units just staging.

A chaotic scene as a garage fire in Spring Valley sent almost a dozen pit bulls onto Campo Road Friday night, causing cars to collide.

"Dog's were fighting everywhere, people were yelling and screaming," said fire victim **********
La Mesa firefighters say when they arrived, there were dogs fighting in the street and the garage was engulfed in flames.

Neighbors say the family that lives in the home breeds the dogs. "These dogs are like her life. She loves her dogs so it was really scary to see all these people that we know in the fire and the fire coming out of the roof."

Firefighters say the dogs ran into the street. A driver tried to avoid one of the dogs and crashed into another car. Police had to use tasers to get the dogs under control.

One dog died in the fire.

The damage from the fire was limited to the garage and attic, firefighters said. Investigators are looking into the cause.

Damn fat fingers!
There's a interesting scenario to discuss at training- how to handle aggressive dogs upon arrivel....
I had to carry a very scared dog away from a house last night. Was wondering all the way to the owner if the poor thing is going to bite me out of fear... Obviously aggresive dogs, of the pit bull variety. I don't trust that breed at all. Dogs that are being bred to fight. No thanks.

Any aggro dog can be a problem for us. Exactly what should be do? I was blowing tiles off of the roof with the high pressure reel, could that be of use?
Try giving emergency care to an elderly woman who's "companion" is a Rottwieler. The dog, was very aggressive when we tried to get into the house but when someone she knew allowed us to enter she calmed down but was still "on guard". They finally put her in a room with a locked door to keep her from worrying us because every time her owner made a distress sound, she growled and barked at us. Just about any dog will become aggressive when strangers are too close to their master particularly when they are not well including the little "yippers" that you don't always see in time.

Tony, we used a hph to back a pair of Dobermans into a garage one night & very quickly closed the doors. Then we were very very careful that the garage didn't become an exposure fire or that the windows didn't get hot enough to crack. Any animal can become aggressive when they are frightened. Like people, the fight or flight response kicks in.

Lutan is right, this topic would make a good training senario.
