I am looking for a good prayer that can be said on Sunday 9/11 at our Honor Service, does anyone have a suggestion?  As part of our service we will be reading off the 343 names of our fallen brethen and would like to have an apporpriate prayer for the occassion.

We have the same type of service at my department every Sept 11, we just read the classic fireman's prayer, always a good one.

great idea, I think that is what we are going to.

best to you Chad!

Our Father in heaven, thank you for bringing us here today, to honor those firefighters who’s lives were taken too soon. Lord, we pray that you would bless those departed and bring comfort to the families that were so severely, and suddenly broken apart by this act of violence against our country. Lord, give us strength and vigilance to carry on with the jobs we do. We pray that Your hand of protection, providence, and guidance would be upon us, our leaders, and our country, now and always. It is in Christ’s name we pray this, and all things, Amen.

(God bless you and yours. Good luck with your event.)

Jewish - Mourner's Kaddish

Glorified and sanctified be God’s great name throughout the world which He has created according to His will. May He establish His kingdom in your lifetime and during your days, and within the life of the entire House of Israel, speedily and soon; and say, Amen.

May His great name be blessed forever and to all eternity.

Blessed and praised, glorified and exalted, extolled and honored, adored and lauded be the name of the Holy One, blessed be He, beyond all the blessings and hymns, praises and consolations that are ever spoken in the world; and say, Amen.

May there be abundant peace from heaven, and life, for us
and for all Israel; and say, Amen.

He who creates peace in His celestial heights, may He create peace for us and for all Israel; and say, Amen.

Ah,,,so it's supposed to be a christian prayer.  How did I not see that?  Of course everyone that died on 9/11 was christian.
thanks for all the great suggestions.
