JACKSON, Wyo. - A fire investigator says a blaze at a restaurant in downtown Jackson caused an estimated $250,000 in damage.

A passerby noticed the fire after Trio American Bistro had closed and called it in just after midnight Friday.

Fire investigator Kathy Clay says strong winds Thursday night caused embers to blow out of the wood-fired pizza oven when workers were cleaning it before closing time. She says some embers became lodged under the stove in about 50 pounds of oak firewood and paper, and a fire was raging about two hours later.

Owner Paul Wireman tells the Jackson Hole News and Guide he'll have a better idea Monday of how long the restaurant will have to be closed.
