PHILADELPHIA - A two-alarm fire has ripped through an apartment building located on Presidential Boulevard in the city's Wynnefield Heights neighborhood shortly before 9 p.m. Thursday, but there were no immediate reports of injuries.
The fire at the Lincoln Green Apartments, located along the 4000 block of Presidential Boulevard, was reported at 8:41 p.m., but quickly escalated to two alarms. Flames could be seen billowing from the roof of one of the three-story buildings before the roof caved in.
One man at the scene said he had went from door to door within building 28 of the apartment complex to alert his neighbors of the fire, which is said to have started on the third floor.
Firefighters climbed to the roof of the adjacent building to battle the blaze, while hoses streamed water into the flames from trucks on the street. Smoke poured out from the structure over a tangle of hoses along the streets surrounding the building.
The fire was placed under control prior to 9:30 p.m., and officials said there were no immediate reports of injuries associated with the fire. However, the Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Red Cross had been notified of the incident to potentially provide assistance to displaced residents if needed.
