Pennsylvania Trench Collapse Kills One, Injures Another

BERWICK, Pa. - One man is dead and another hospitalized after a trench they were working in caved in at the site of a future campground.

Authorities say the trench caved in around 9 a.m. Thursday in Salem Township, about 20 miles southwest of Wilkes-Barre. One man was rescued from the six- to eight-foot deep trench and airlifted to a hospital. A 35-year-old was killed in the collapse.

Investigators did not identify either man but a family member has identified the injured man as Steve Bodnar, the property's owner.

The men were working on the site of the future Bodnarosa Motel and Campground.
