A couple in the Poconos is relieved everyone is okay after they watched their home get destroyed by a fire.

"I can't walk away, I have to see what they're doing, i pray there's stuff in there i can save," said Mae Kline.

"I can see how people feel. It just puts a knot in your stomach. It amazes you how quick everything can be gone," said Terry Kline.

The fire sparked at the Pleasant View Drive home around 12:45 Friday afternoon. The home is located near Brodheadsville.

Terry Kline was home at the time when the fire started in a shed next to the home.

Terry explains he was near the shed doing work when he felt heat coming from inside.

"I felt the heat against my arm and I said 'this isn't right'. I looked around and saw the inside on fire. I mean, engulfed in fire," said Terry Kline.

Meanwhile, Terry's wife, Mae, a school bus driver, was driving through the area and felt something was wrong.

"The fire trucks got behind me and I pulled over. I have an aid with me and I said 'Oh God, it looks like a house is on fire. It looks like our house!," said Mae Kline.

Everyone got out safely. That included Mae's husband, their two dogs and a kitten.

The Polk Township Fire Captain says six fire companies helped knock out the fire.

He says only one firefighter was injured and treated for a heat-related injury.

The Klines lived in the home since 1972. As they watch nearly 40 years of memories catch fire, they just kept reminding each other how lucky they are that no one in their family, pet included, got hurt.

"You can't replace a human life, but you can rebuild, and that's what we're planning to do," said Mae Kline.

The fire captain says a fire marshal will be on scene to investigate how and exactly where the fire started.
