CHURCHILL, Pa. - Emergency officials say two volunteer firefighters were able to escape after being briefly trapped inside a burning home near Pittsburgh.

Authorities have not identified the firefighters from Churchill, a suburb along Interstate 376 just east of the city.

At one point, two of the firefighters were trapped in a burning room but were somehow able to make their way through the flames and outside. Paramedics helped them cool off at the scene, but they were fine otherwise.

The firefighters responded just before midnight Monday to a home that was vacant and being renovated. Investigators have yet to determine how the fire started in the garage area of the home.
