CLAYSVILLE, Pa. - An overnight fire destroyed a western Pennsylvania nursing home and forced residents to be evacuated from an adjacent facility.

Officials say the blaze that gutted the Bethel Personal Care home in Claysville, Washington County, broke out late Thursday. Sixteen residents were evacuated from the home and 17 were removed from the care home next door.

No injuries were reported. The displaced residents were being cared for at the Claysville fire station.

The Observer-Reporter newspaper reported the intense heat melted the siding on a nearby house. One neighbor reported hearing a loud boom.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
