Pagers
Just woundering out there what kind of pagers do you guys use out there? My company currently uses the Minitor II for firefighters but the upper ranking officers use the Minitor IV. Right now i have a Minitor III in the shop and its the only III in the station. So what do you guys use and have any suggestions on any good working pagers?

we have a combination of minitor II,III,IV,V. The only problem we've had is they go off even if we do not have a call it does not happen all the time but every once in awhile.

My dept has always used Motorola pagers whether it be from the Minitor 2 all the way to the Minitor 5 but from my use of the Minitor 3 it was the best pager I ever had because when we had a call mine would always go off unlike the 4 and 5's. I dont know what the problem is with them cause we had a call one day and i was standing beside one of the guys that had a Minitor 4 and it didnt say a word while mine was on my side screaming. Another problem we have been having is the Mintor 4's have been going off for the wrong dept or they go off and dont say nothing but I guess thats another mystery. But the Minitor 2's we have has never given us a problem, they have always been good pagers to us. Hope this Helps anyone.

Where I live now is the ONLY Department I have been on in all of my 15 yrs. in the fire service that has everyone carrying two way radios...
Dispatch wants us to sign on "responding"....
Their has been 2 times on the fire scene I have had to communicate via radio on the Fire Scene.
The radio comes in handy...
All of my last FD's I had a mix between Minitor I all the way thru the Minitor V... Way back in the day I even had a PLECTRON sitting at the house...

We are currently running Minitor V's. We have our Minitor III and IV's as back ups. I like the V's because of the 4 settings capabilities. I hate the fact that the volume on the V's that we have is very loud even when set as low as it will go on the volume. The vibrate mode literally shakes the charger off the table.

my minitor III sucks its hit and miss and i know a few people in my station are having the same problem with theres. your best bet is to try to get a Iv or v.

we have mostly minitor 4&5s.i love the 5s because they seem to work the best.i have had mine for about a year.we also use afton pagers too.they are nice to have as aback-up.

we have had nothing but trouble out of our minitor 3 pagers but we have several minitor 2 ,4, and 5's and they have been great all have 2 channel with stored voice( well worth the extra cost)

we use all alpha pagers, they are great as long as county actually sends the information over them. Alot of the times we dont recieve reports or recalls.

I had a II but traded it with my lieut for a IV. The only problem i had with the four was the clip broke, but other than that no problems......."but by the end of this month we are suppost to get these alpha nurmac pagers" ill beleve it when i see it we were suppost to get them last year. RIGHT

We have a mix of Minitor IIs,IIIs,and only 2 IVs,and A shitload of Vs...I have had all of them and here is the lowdown:
Minitor II best outta all of them
Minitor IIIs are nothing but junk they work better than the IV but still is junk
Minitor IV...like i said they're junk.
Minitor V...They're ok about as good as the II but there just not right...

We use Motorola Gold Flex Alpha Pager, before we had monitor 4 & 5 but in some case, i mean at work in large steal structure, the call are often missing. So my Fd switch to alpha... really good thing !

my station is starting to change to NOVA made byUSAlert. These pagers have a screen to tell you the date and time. Also on this screen it will tell you the date and time that you were toned out and also come with the opitnal stored voice. The county HazMat team is looking into these also as we had bought 15 of the mimitor4's and they have all been to the shop in the last few years at least twice.Mine happens to be in the shop right now for the 3rd time in a little over a year. So my point...shop around and really consider the nove as it cost atleast $100 then motorola.
