MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Memphis fire officials are evacuating an apartment complex near where a tanker truck has overturned on Interstate 55 near the Mississippi state line.

The crash, which involved three vehicles, occurred early Wednesday and there are injuries to drivers.

The Commercial Appeal reports the tanker contains flammable vinyl acetate and a small amount of it leaked.

Authorities were telling residents of Post Apartments to leave until the cargo was transferred to another truck.

Lt. Wayne Cooke of the Memphis Fire Department said the overturned tanker is only about 400 feet from the apartments.

People who live there are being put on transit buses and will likely be taken to a community center.
