SAN FRANCISCO - Authorities say at least two dozen people required medical assistance after a three-alarm fire broke out at a residential hotel in San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood.
The fire at the 35-unit Franciscan Towers began around 9 p.m. Tuesday on the first floor and apparently spread to the sixth floor after traveling up a garbage chute.
The blaze was contained around 10:15 p.m. although firefighters continued to battle flare-ups into the morning.
Authorities tell KGO-TV at least 24 residents were treated, most for smoke inhalation. Four of them were hospitalized.
None of the injuries was considered life-threatening.
No firefighters were hurt while battling the blaze.
