HUNTINGTOWN, Md. - Fire officials say more than 100 dogs were pulled from a burning house in Calvert County.


Jonathan Riffe, chief of the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department, says four dogs died in the fire. No people were injured.

Riffe says more than 50 firefighters helped rescue a total of 129 animals from the house. The dogs included pit bulls, Rottweilers and Chihuahuas.

In total, Riffe says there are more than 600 animals on the property. The house is listed as a breeder for several kinds of dogs.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
