MILWAUKIE, Ore. - Clackamas County fire crews say a Volkswagen Jetta involved in a two-car accident ran over an embankment Thursday and wound up resting nose down in some trees in Milwaukie.
That was good news since the male driver didn't end up at the bottom of the 75-foot embankment. But he was trapped. Fire District No. 1 spokesman Steve McAdoo says the driver had to undo his seat belt in order to breathe, and that left him resting on the windshield.
After securing the car, fire crews were able to pull the driver free.
Oregon State Police tell KGW that 50-year-old John Michael Talpa of Gladstone was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The other driver was evaluated and released from a hospital.
