LAS VEGAS - A fire spokesman says a woman was found dead inside a home where firefighters doused intense flames northeast of Las Vegas.
Clark County spokesman Dan Kulin (KEW'-lin) reported the woman's body was found after the fire about 5:30 p.m. Sunday in the two-story home on Mount Hood Street. That's about 8 miles northeast of downtown Las Vegas.
Kulin says the woman lived at the house with her stepdaughter and the stepdaughter's two children. But they weren't home when fire broke out.
The cause of the fire is being investigated. Damage to the house was estimated at $50,000.
Kulin says a cat died in the fire, but firefighters rescued two dogs.
