INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) -- A fire at a senior citizens apartment building in Inglewood has killed one person and injured 11 others.

Los Angeles County firefighters were called to the seniors-only building shortly before 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

Fire Inspector Daryl Jacobs says about 25 firefighters doused the blaze within 10 minutes.

However, the fire killed a wheelchair-bound person inside the apartment unit where it started.

Jacobs says seven people, including four police officers, inhaled smoke and were examined at local hospitals. Four others were treated at the scene.

There's no immediate word on their conditions.
