DAYTON, Ohio - Officials say no hazardous contaminants have been detected around a fire amid a 50-foot-high pile of about 3,000 cars that continues to burn more than 12 hours after it was reported at an Ohio scrap yard.

Authorities have canceled an advisory warning those within two miles of the Franklin Iron and Metal site to stay indoors. Excessive smoke continues, and officials say residents should still try to stay away, especially if they have respiratory problems.

No one was evacuated and there were no serious injuries in the blaze, which was reported about 3 a.m. Thursday.

Fire officials say several small explosions could be heard coming from the fire, and the cause is under investigation. Crews are expected to remain at the site through the night, and three intersections remain closed.
