SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - An Ohio firefighter says his experience with house fires didn't prepare him for the loss of his own home to a fire, possibly related to a power outage after an ice storm.

Ralph Harrod was at the fire station in Springfield in western Ohio on Thursday when he learned his house outside the city was burning. His family members and dog got out safely.

Harrod tells the Springfield News-Sun the only belongings he has left are clothes.

Hustead (HYOO'-stehd) Fire Chief Bill Young says the fire may have started in a garage refrigerator.

Fire officials say there may have been some kind of short circuit when power came back on at the home after being out for 24 hours.

Hundreds of thousands across Ohio lost electricity following this week's storm.
