As FF's we see all the things that happen to people who don't do the basic things to keep themselves or their family safe on the road.Things like wearing a seat belt, slowing down, and watching out for the other guy. We see these things everyday and we think, " of course it can happen to them, but not ME." We see what not wearing a seatbelt can do, yet how many times a day do we hear of FF's hurt or killed in apparatus crashes, that happened to them ,but, not ME. We see what speed and not driving defensively can do, but that was them, not ME. We all know what the hazards of this vocation are, and we are very aware of our mortality, yet so many have the attitude that only happens to other people, not ME. We all need to understand that ,not ME, is what is getting us and our fellow brothers and sisters hurt and killed, and make every effort to change our way of thinking, and stop the NOT ME way we think. When we change the way we think we'll see a change in the statistics.
