On Friday, March 25, around noon, the Saddle Brook Fire Volunteer Fire Dept in Bergen County, New Jersey, was dispatched to 305 Adriana St for a house fire. Saddle Brook Police was the first to arrive on the scene and confirmed a working fire, fully involved, in a 2 story residential structure. Command requested a 2nd alarm on arrival to report directly to the scene sending near by mutual aid towns Garfield, Elmwood Park and Fair Lawn. A 3rd alarm assignment were staged in the Township's firehouses to cover the town. Operations went directly to defensive as the house was fully involved by the time apparatus arrived on scene, which was minutes after the dispatch and fire sirens sounded.
The home belonged to Police Officer Craig Roselli of the nearby Garfield Police Dept, who sources are not confirming was on duty at the time. Craig Roselli Jr. reported to the Bergen Record that he is normally home on Friday, but was at college doing a project. The Roselli's also lost their family dog in the fire.
Saddle Brook Police Lieutenant James Galbo reported that "the house was gone in a half hour." The Roselli family was placed in a nearby hotel due to the house being completely collapsed. An excevator was requested directly from the fire scene from a construction company to remove the debris.
Saddle Brook's Mayor Karen Chamberlain comforted the wife, Debbie Roselli after she was examined by EMS personnel after she passed out moments later arriving on scene.
It goes to show that members of our local public safety department encounters incidents, however for the Roselli family, this incident literally their home. My deepest sympathies goes out to the family for their losses. The cause of the fire at this time is unknown and is under investigation.
PERSONAL NOTE: I personally monitored the incident via police scanner on the department's dispatch channel and fireground channel and every attempt was made to try and save the home, but due to the volume of fire, and multiple collapses through out the home, every attempt was unsuccessful.
