ALL Firefighters Step IN
All Fellow NJ Firefighters, I'am trying to get a straight answer, is NJ going national with their certs? the only national accreditation is somerset county. I'am going through burlington next month, and I am hearing mixed things whether or not they're going pro-board.

i know the certs can be transferred over in other states in nj. you going to the academy in january ?

I am bumping this back up and opening it up to all. Iam in a bit of dilemma, I was recently asked to join a company in PA where I live, as it turns out PA offers a National certification coarse of firefighter 1. I am now being told even if i do take this coarse I will not be able to use my cert over in jersey when i ride over there on the weekends.
How is this possible when jersey isn't a commonwealth state and the National Firefighter 1 exceeds Jerseys firefighter 1, I also know of a county who offers the pro board cert in nj, "somerset county" I know a few guys in different counties who also have a national cert and they're departments accepted with no questions asked.
So my question is this, I am i allowed to use my firefighter 1 in nj or not?

What does the dept you wish to affiliate with in New Jersey ask for?

I would think your "dilema" would be easily solved by knowing what the individual dept you wish to work for requires. If they ask for NJ certs, then that is what you need. If out of state certs are accepted then you wouldn't have to worry about getting NJ certs. Such decisions on what will be accepted by a dept is up to them, which may be why you know guys in different counties where their out of state or national certs were accepted.

From speaking to my NJ Chief last night, I should be D.O.T. Approved, but he said he was gonna look into it for me when the time comes. I am just getting mixed things about it.

Hey what was our homework for firefighter 1? we had those 2 work sheets. and do we fully complete chapter 2 ? or just the safety of it?
