Hey everybody, my name is Jesse Bruck, born and riased in Alexandria Ohio and i have always thought that being a firefighter would a awsome job. I'm pretty much new to it all but cant wait to learn. I only have certificates for cpr, aed, and first aide. Im starting school down at Hocking College Jan. 5th and cant wait. Just wondering if you guys have any pointers to help get through school and just anything that a newbie would find helpul. i have been down to my local volunteer dept. and they are real cool and are going to give me all my gear to get through fire school, im going to try and volunteer for them asap. Any advice would be great! Thanks.
Hey Jesse, My names Justin, I'm origionally from Youngstown Ohio. With only 6 years of experience, im still sorta new to the fire service. The best advice i can give you still being new is to be open minded and always willing to learn new, as well as old techniques and methods. LIsten to experience, because some day you'll be the one lookin at the probie, and hopefully he'll be lookin at you hopeing to learn. Any knowledge is good knowledge. Being a firefighter or medic shouldnt just be a job, it should be a passion, working with guys that you would trust with your life. Good luck with Hocking, ive heard good thing about it from a few of my friends that have graduated from there. Feel free to drop me an e-mail anytime. Be safe.
