BLAUVELT, N.Y. - Firefighters taking on a blaze at a Blauvelt home not only put out the flames but managed to save Christmas.
While searching the home on Monsignor Brady Court on Wednesday morning, firefighters saw a Christmas tree and presents. An Orangeburg Fire Department official said they moved the items out of the way to keep them from being damaged by smoke or water.
The homeowner called for help after smelling smoke coming from the laundry room. When she went into the room, she saw flames coming from the dryer.
The house sustained smoke and water damage, along with broken windows.
Blauvelt is south of Nyack, N.Y.
