A Las Cruces firefighter was injured when he partially fell through a roof during a house fire this evening.
The firefighter was part of a crew fighting that at about 5 p.m. responded to fire at home in the 700 block of Suzanne Street, Fire Department officials said. The firefighter's injury was not life threatening. He was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
A cat was rescued from the fire, which caused severe damage to the home. Officials said 27 firefighters responded to the incident. The fire was under control in about 25 minutes. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
