New Jersey Firefighter Among Three Soldiers Killed In Afghanistan

BORDENTOWN, N.J. - A soldier from New Jersey has been killed in Afghanistan.
Army Pfc. Benjamin Moore, 23, of Bordentown was killed along with two other soldiers when their vehicle was struck with an improvised explosive device Jan. 12 in the Ghazni province of Afghanistan, according to the Department of Defense.
Moore’s family was notified of the death Wednesday.
The other soldiers killed had been identified Thursday as Sgt. Omar Aceves, 30, of El Paso, Texas, and Spc. Jarrid L. King, 20, of Erie, Pa.
According to the Bordentown Professional Firefighters Firemen's Mutual Benevolent As..., Moore had been a member of the Hope Hose Humane Volunteer Fire Company. He was also a 2006 graduate of Bordentown Regional High School.
Moore's father, Patrick, said his son was deployed to Afghanistan in April 2010 and had spent the recent Christmas holiday with his family.
The three had been assigned to the 7th Engineer Battalion, 10th Sustainment Brigade and 10th Mountain Division, which are all home-based at Fort Drum, N.Y.

it pains me to hear of a loss like this. having served on both sides as a former soldier and a firefighter, i know all to well the pain his family must be enduring. welcome home brother, and watch over us during our trying times
