(AP) PHILADELPHIA
A luxury residential building is now open on the site of a fire that killed three Philadelphia firefighters more than a decade ago.
The Residences at the Ritz Carlton occupy the site of what was the Meridian Bank Building, across from City Hall. The three firefighters lost their lives battling a stubborn fire that gutted much of that building in February 1991.
The new high-rise is possibly the most expensive residential building in downtown Philadelphia. Prices for the 270 units start at $550,000 and go up to $12 million.
Amenities include a private gymnasium, lap pool and top-of-the-line appliances _ not to mention an incredible view of the city.
The developers say they also will erect a memorial to the three firefighters.
