Nevada Nuke Test Site Gets 2 New, Bigger Firehouses
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- A Las Vegas company has been awarded a contract to build two new fire stations to replace two aging firehouses at the Nevada Test Site.
The National Nuclear Security Administration and National Security Technologies LLC said Friday that Martin-Harris Construction won a $42 million bid to build the two structures.
Work is due to begin in April and should be completed by September 2010.
One fire station will be in the restricted test site town of Mercury, 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas.
The other will be about 22 miles north of Mercury on the vast nuclear weapons proving ground.
Test Site Fire Chief Chuck Fauerbach says some specialized equipment now sits outside because the firehouses built in the 1960s are too small.

Our firehouse was built in the 60's and well it fits us just fine. but i mean i can see where they are comming from but 42 million to build two firehouses those are gonna be some nice firehouses.
