WJRT-TV reports firefighters put out the blaze Sunday morning but it wasn't until after they left that neighbors found her body still inside.
Police and fire Chief Alvern Locke says it's a "terrible tragedy" and an internal investigation was under way to determine how the woman's body was missed. Locke says department policy requires a search of every room following a fire. He says if disciplinary action is needed it will take place.
The Flint Journal reports police identified the woman as Luverne N. Wilson.
It's not known how long the investigation will take. Officials say the fire appeared to have accidentally started in the kitchen.

""We happened to look through the window and there she was just sitting up there in the window, I mean sitting up there trying to get out of that window," Collier said."
Ok, I didn't see the news report. After watching it all I can say is,"Wow!" I don't like to Monday morning quarterback but what happened to primary and secondary searches?
