OK! I had my interview! I would first just like to thank the people who replied to my questions about how you thought it might go. Your comments gave me some good insight. So here is how it went...

Left 2 hours early, first to arrive and was seated in a confrence room to await my name to be called.

Name was called and was escorted to a room that consisted of a long stretch of tables and 3 interviewers. Shook hands with 1 Chief, 1 firefighter whos rank i did not hear, and a person from HR. Each took turns asking me questions, why I want to be a firefighter, why I wanted this department, what mistakes have I made at work, how did I handle the problem, how I might be discribed by others, etc. I, in turn, gave honest answers' made frequent eye contact' and put emotion into my replies. Shook hands when I was finished and was escorted to the door where I was told I'd hear by friday...if not monday.

I am now anxious to hear back and hope that what I do hear will be GOOD!. Thanks again for the advise. I had a good feeling at the end of it all. Good luck to anyone else who might doing the same in the near future.

Sounds good. Hope you get good news. Good luck!
Good luck.....Hope you know what you might have gotten yourself into.....LOL."The toughest job you will ever love" (I know this isn't our motto...but sometimes I think it should be...
Thanks Chief! I'll blog the outcome.
First good luck.
Second...did you ask any questions? Does the dept have annual physicals? Do they pay for training and certs? Do you know what the promotion process is like?
Where is this dept located (state is fine)?

Personally, I think more volunteer depts should go to something like this. The interview sounded formal enough to mimic that of career depts. To me, this shows professionalism off the bat and not the "good ol boys" network of voting and so forth.

Hopefully all works out well with you here, Deuce
Going in, many of my questions had been answered before hand, upon reading the core volunteer description online
But I did explain that I was interested in the continued training fire I, II, officer II, and reembercement for classes taken at the local college. the dept is located in the portland metro region of oregon and is one of the largest departments in the state. It eas a good experience and my perpective lead me to think no differently of it than a job, so I am glad to have had the chance and am waiting to see. They do also provide an academy before getting started.
